Our story
Nearly four hundred years on the green
A coaching inn since 1642, a village local ever since, and the Marsh family’s pub since 2009.

Through the years
A short history
A coaching inn on the drovers’ road
The Fox opens as a stop for drovers and the Oxford coach, with stabling for twenty horses where The Stables room is now.
The inglenook is built
A new chimney and the great inglenook fireplace go in. The bread oven beside it still works.
The bell-ringers’ local
St Mary’s ringers start meeting in the snug after practice on Thursdays. They still do.
Tom and Ellie take the keys
The Marshes save the Fox from closure, keep the flagstones and the Hooky, and open a proper kitchen.
Pub of the year
The Good Pub Guide names the Fox & Furrow its Oxfordshire pub of the year.
The landlords
“We didn’t want to change the Fox. We wanted to give it back to the village, with better food and somewhere to stay.”
Tom & Ellie Marsh
Tom grew up two villages away and pulled his first pint here at eighteen. Ellie ran front of house in London before they came home with a dog, a baby and a plan.
